I have many memories of mom, my brother Ted and sister Karen and I working the Road Runner Bike Shop, but not so many with Skip (Anderson) and Larry since they were older and had other interests during this time.
The Road Runner [mobile] Bike Shop eventually led to us having two subsequent non-mobile locations. The first was on east 105th street, just south of Grantwood and almost directly east of traffic light at the intersection of South Blvd and East 105th Street. This space currently and for some time now, is part of Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church.
The second location was located at St. Claire Ave at E 125th Street (I think the address was 12438 St Claire Ave. !!) This location is on the south-west corner where Shaw Avenue dumps into St. Claire Ave. This second location was still active when I left to the Air Force in 1981 and only closed after our mother’s death in 1985.

I found this article in mom’s things. The post date of the article was Sunday, October 8, 1972. I was only 12 years old!

We sure did enjoy these times and we learned so much. All of our abilities and confidence toward life and dealing with its obstacles may not be soley credited to this experience but there is no other single experience in my life that I can attribute more to, other than just being with mom.
